The Effie Meikleand Opotiki, schooners, cleared at th.; Custom-house yesterday for Napier. 'I he schooner Col mu bin. is loading with a cargo of horses and pigs, consigned to Messrs. Hunter and Nolan, of Auckland. « The C.G. p.s. Luna passed the p.s. Comerang on Saturday last off Cape Colville, bound for An-kland., » 'I ho .Star of the South passed the Bay on Monday last bound for Napier from Auckland. The Comerang is hourly expected to arrive from Auckland. The C.G. p.s. Luna, Captaip Fairchild, called in yesterday at this port on her passage to Napier from Auckland, his Honor Judge Johnston was a passenger by her. It is expected that she will return to-day or to-morrow with the Hon. the Defence Minister, who purposes visiting the East Cap •, before the meeting of the Assembly. The schooner Herald bound to Pelorus Sound from Napier, put in at this port on Sunday last for repairs to fore-sail and stay-sail. The master reports having left Napier on Wednesday lust, anti when off Cape Tumagain she encountered the full force of a heavy S. 8. W. gale, which caused her to make lee way at the rate of three miles an hour.
