BOARD OF EDUCATION.

FOUR Scholarships at the Auckland College and Grammar School will be competed for at Auckland in December next. Each Scholarship will be tenable for two years, and will entitle its holder to an allowance at the rate of £3O a year, and to free tuition at the Grammar School. The competition for three of the Scholarships will be confined to the pupils of the District or Common Schools of the province. The competition for the remaining one will be open to all comers, subject to certain conditions. The names of those who intend to compete must be sent in to the Secretary not later than Ist November next. Candidates must not be less than 12 years at that date nor more than 16.
