ROAD BOARD.
Saturday, 31st May, 1873. The Board met at half-past two. Present —Messrs. Westrup, King, and Johnson. Mr. J. W. Johnson was voted to the chair, in the absence of Mr. Poynter. The minutes of previous meeting were read. Letters.—From Provincial Secretary stating that the Provincial Government Grant of £3OO would be placed to the credit of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand on the 4th prox. From the Superintendent signifying his approval of the proposed expenditure of General Government Road Board Grant of £6BO 13s 4d, and that the amount would be placed to the credit of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand on the 31st inst.
From Capt. Read requesting the Board to instruct the Engineer to mark off the road from the Bridge at the Backwater to Waipora Ferry. From Mr. Webb enclosing cheque for cash balance in hand £23 17s 7d for the period ending January 30,1873, and notifying the Board that the Account books were audited and
signed. Tenders. —The Engineer was instructed to prepare Specifications, and to c ill for Tenders for the following works :— . Resolved that Tenders be called for a drain going through the Makauri Block to French Bob’s; and culvert on the. Main-road. Separate Tenders to be issued for each work. Tenders to be called for fascining the approaches to the Waipaoa Punt. Specification and Tender for stopping the crevices in the Waikanae crossing. Specification ahd Tender for wofksto be done in Derby-street. ' ' Mr. Cross's offer to cut a drain at Kaitaratahi if the Board would place a culvert there, was accepted. Board adjourned till Saturday, June 14.
