Saturday sth April 1873. Present Messrs. Johnson, Parsons, and King. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Letters received : From Sergeant Shirley in reference to “Dog Nuisance Act,” shewing a credit of £24 Is 6d to March 31st. From the Provincial Secretary respecting Harbor improvements. The Provincial Government hope to carry out works proposed by the Board at no distant period. They authorize the rock to be blasted at a cost not exceeding £25; they cannot provide an adequate salary for a Pilot this year; and regret that the A.S.P. Co., will not be able to carry out the Mail Service. From Mr. F. Foster requesting payment of costs of summons &c. The Secretary was instructed to reply that the Board is unaware of the circumstances to which Mr. Foster draws their attention. In reply to Mr. Hargreave’s question about aid to outside districts, the Secretary was instructed to inform that gentleman that there is no provision made for districts outside the Road Board boundary. The Secretary was instructed to‘write to his Honor the Superintendent informing him that the letter referring to the boundaries of the sheep district, had been referred to a meeting of sheep farmers; and that the action taken on it would be seen by reference to the minutes of that meeting. The following accounts were passed:—M. Donald balance of contract I £l5 18s; H. Steel, making dog kennel £8 ss. Engineer was instructed to call for tenders for the following work: —First, for the completion of contract E ; second, for cutting about five chains of drain in Palmerston road. The Board adjourned until Saturday the 19th inst.
