Gisborne Band.- —We have been requested to announce the contemplated formation of a Gisborne Band. *-A is to be held in the Court-house, by the permission of Dr. on Saturday evening, at 7 o’clock, for this purpose, at which, all interested are invited to attend; • Mr. Atcherloy, till recently the leader of the Wairoa band, is now a resident here; we have several-amateurs j and it is proposed to ask the co-operation of the settlers towards defr&yr i ing the original cost of the insbfumeiits.
Certificated Surveyors.—The Lyttleton Times Itearns that the General Government haVe decided,not to grant any more certificates tb surveyors unless they undergo an examination, and announces the fact of Mr. C. Cuff city surveyor, (brother of Mr. J. Cliff of ; ’Gfebornq)
having passed his examination very satisfactorily. We congratulate Mr. Cuff on being the first to receive a certificate of the kind in the Province .o£ Canterbury. !
