DOG NUISANCE . ACT. Sxssiox I, No. 4, 1854. NOTICE is hereby given that on and after the 17th instant the above Act will be strictly enforced in this district. 1 The following sections of the Act are published for general information : — 6. If any dog, upwards of three months old, shall be at large (whether with or without his owner) on any highway or on unenclosed land, without a ticket issued for the then Current . year affixed to him, the owner of such dog shall forfeit for every such offence any sum not exceeding twenty shillings. The proof that any dog is less than three months old shall, in any proceeding under this Act, lie on the owner of such dog. 13. Any person who shall permit any bulldog or mastiff, or a mongrel of either of the same, or any other dog which shall be known to be dangerous, or to hate bitten or injured any person, or any cattle or other property (whether such dog shall have a “ Dog Ticket ’’ affixed to him or not) to go at large without a muzzle securely fixed upon the mouth of every such dog, so-as to prevent the same from biting or injuring tey person, or any cattle or other property, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence anyj! sum not exceeding forty shillings; and any such dog so at large may be forthwith seised apd killed by any constable. 14. If any dog. shall on any highway or on any unenclosed place rush at or attack any person, or any cattle, whereby the life or limbs of any person shall be endangered, or any cattle or other property injured, the owner of such dog shall forfeit and pay atay sum riot exceeding five pounds, without prejudice to any claim for the damage done by such dog 20. The owner of anv dog shall for the purpose of this Act be deemed to be the person upon whose premises such dog may be kept, or the person in whose care such dog may temporarily be, whethet loose or confined. ■4 Any person wishing to obtain tickets can now do so on application to the undersigned on any day between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2p.m., except Saturdays or Sundays, at the Militia Office, Gisborne. 1, THOMAS E.
