Lord Cecil has introduced in the House of Commons a proposal for taxation for the defence of the colonies. Iron nt Wolverhampton has advanced 20s. per ton. On the second day of the colonial wool sales, upwards of 6,500 bales were offered. Port Philip preponderating. Victorian sorts showed a reduction of 1 Jd.; Adelaide and Sydney greasy was a penny lower. In the House of Commons the Jury Bill lias been read a second time. It provides for reduction in the number of a jury to seven, except in cases of murder or treason.
