ROAD BOARD.
January 30,1873. The Board re-assembled at 11 o’clock. Present—Major Westrup, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Parsons. Mr. Johnson enquired about the state of the Mill road to Brown’s Point. Major Westrup announced that as he and Mr. Poynter would be absent from the district for some little time, the Board had better elect a pro tempore Chairman, and two members to sign cheques during their absence. He.propoeed Mr. Johnson as Chairman, and that gentleman and Mr. Parsons to sign cheques. Carried. The Engineer proceeded to explain in answer to Mr. Johnson’s enquiry, when Major Westrup reminded the Board that it would be inconvenient to import unnecessary business into the day’s work, and the subject dropped. J. Brown forwarded names of two sureties and £5 to complete his tender for contract L. Mr. Cuff’s opinion relative to making valuations and liability of Waikanae block owners was laid on the table. The Engineer obtained permission ’from the Board to get receipt books printed. Instructions were given him to hand all monies over to the Secretary once a month, and to obtain a fire-proof safe for the office, the cost of which is not to exceed £lO. -. r The Board adjourned to Saturday the 15th February.
