ROAD BOARD.

Wednesday 2nd Jandaby. The Board, met this morning pursuant to advertisement to hear and consider objections to the Assessment list, and other business.

Appointment or Sicbstakt. —Applications consequent on the retirement of Mr. Webb, from press of business engagements in other directions, were received and deferred for con* sideration.

Febky Wharf.—Two tenders were received : —G. M. Vantreight £lO4 155., rejected. J. Brown £44 accepted. The following objections were recorded:— Captain Porter to his property being rated at £4O, reduced to £36. Also to •* Hall ” property at £60 —as building was not erected when Assessment was made—reduced to £lO. Mr. Boland to 31 suburban Ormond at £l5, to remain as it is. Also to 33 rated at £32, reduced to £3, entry as stated being a clerical error. Also to Waerenga-a-hika orchard at £36, to remain as it is.

Mr. Murphy for section No. 24 Ormond at £l5, reduced to £lO. 1 Mr. Stubbs to sections 73, 74 Gisborne, reduced to £5O. Also section No. 123, to remain as it is.

Mr. Skipworth to Mr. Cuff’s name being on Roll for Ruhui ; name to be altered by mutual consent. Also, as agent, to Mr. Hardy’s property at £35, reduced to £3O. Mr. Cameron that he was not the owner of 1, 9,16, Mendlesham having exchanged for No. 2,3, and 24. To be Assessed for those sections instead, rate remaining the same. Riperata to Block at Makaraka, containing 61 acres instead of 66 as stated, to be reduced 2s. Bd. Also to Waikanae block, grant not having been issued. A motion was carried to the effect that a legal opinion be obtained as to when valuations should be made.

The Engineer and Secretary were requested to withdraw, during the election of Secretary. Applications from Mr. Lysnar, Mr. Bryant, and Mr. Bilham were considered, and Mr. Lysnar was elected.
