All the slops in liarbor were decorated, and Sir G. Bowen met with an enthusiastic reception ■in town; there was an immense crowd. At Rattray-strcct ■arch the Mayor presented an addfess. As the Governor entered Fern Hill gates, 1,000 children sang the "National Anthem. The Rev. Mr. Williams, a Baptist Minister, died on December 23, from the effects of a coach -accident which he received on Friday. The Governor opened to-day the Agricultural Show. In the Chamber of Commerce-it was proposed to petition the Government that the subsidised steamer to Fiji should run through the southern ports. The Dunedin Jockey Club’s programme shows prizes to the vatue of £l,lOO.
