Fined Bs. cost of summons and service. ■ , r SnihLfeY v. Hemi te llumaki.—Breach of Rural Police Act, 1866, and obstructing surveys. Obstruction admitted, defendant pleading ignorance of the law. Fined ss. and costs. Horsfall v. Stevenson. — Balance of £4 on account of sale of horses. Judgment for plaintiff. Holloway y. PaOHa Kawenga. — Claim £l7. Amount advanced on sale of a bullock. Judgment for plaintiff £6 and costs. Riperata Kahutia v. Burnand.—Claim £1 for damage done to crops by horse trespass. Judgment for defendant with costs. Pitt v. Benson. — Breach of Militia Act. Offence admitted. Fined £l. Sorry v. Cobmie.— Mr. Cuff for plaintiff Mr. Taylor for defendant- Claim £2O damages sustained by defendant leaving plaintiff’s employ contrary to terms of a written agreement. The case, certainly, contained a great principle, but the fight which usually occurs between the two forensic gladiators when they do meet as opposing counsel destroys all attempts of the Bench to weigh with nicety those points which generally require a cooler reflection than could be obtained on Thursday. Dr. Nesbitt’s patience is commendable, but his want of firmness, injudicious. Judgment for plaintiff £5 and costs.
