RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before W. K. Nesbitt, Esq., R.M.) Thursday, November 21. The usual amount of business was transacted at this Court on Thursday, but nothing of an unusual character. Thomas v. Burnand.—- Claim £l. Plaintiff let a horse out on hire to a third person who exchanged with defendant during the day, for one he was riding. The animal was returned with a sore back. Judgment for defendant. Shirley v. Burnand.—-Craelty to a horse Sergeant Shirley laid the information under the the Rural Police Act. The charge was fully sustained, and defendant fined 40s. Priestley v. Mackey.—Claim £ll, amount of 1.0. U. Judgment for plaintiff. Read v. Rapata Whakapvhia.—Claim £23 3s. debt. Judgment foe plaintiff. Priestley v. Eru Moanahia. —£3 16s. Judgment for plaintiff. Wallace v. Hira Koho and others. — Claim £2O damage sustained by defendant’s dogs worrying plaintiff’s sheep, judgment for £lO. Smithv. Drummond—Claim£s 45.9 d. This is the result of a disagreement between a Contractor and the Engineer to the Road Board. The defendant said that he was merely a servant of the Board and had no power to accept contracts. Plaintiff withdrew the case, and the court orders plaintiff to pay 10s. 6d. to defendant for expenses.
