October 23.—Star of the South s.s., Captain Holmes, from Auckland. Keera s.s., Captain Andrews, from Auckland. Passengers : Mr. Howard, and the Rev. Father O’Connell. DEPARTURES. October 21. —Rangatira s.s., forTaurnnga and Auckland. October 22. —Luna p.s., for Napier and Wellington. Passengers: Lieutenant-Colonel St. John, W. Seed Esq., Inspector of Customs, Captain Porter, and Mr. Margoliouth. October 23.—Star of the South s.s., for Napier. Passenger: Mr. MeCaul. Dawn, cutter, for Napier. Keera s.s., for Napier and the South. IMPORTS. Per Keera, s.s. —10 boxes tea, 1 bale, 1 cask, 4 kegs paint, Read ; 1 case, 5 sashes, 4 doors, 2 pieces timber, 1 case whiting, 1 case currants, 4 cases kerosine, 4 boxes candles, 4 pkgs and 10 bags sugar, 2 eases vestas, 2 doz axe handles, Horsfall; 1 case, Hall. EXPORTS. Per Dawn, cutter. —-67 bales wool, Read. During the week the bay has been lively with shipping, having had no less than four steamers calling on their way up and down the Coast. The Luna is expected to return here, on her way to Auckland, about Tuesday next. The Rangatira had to leave somewhat hurriedly on the morning of the 21st in the teeth of a severe S.E. gale, until she opened out into the ocean. She was to have taken a cargo of’horses. The Luna, also, had to seek shelter under Young Nick’s head. The Dawn may be looked for again to-day or to-morrow. The Rangatira will be the next steamer South.

Cavlton—At Ormond, Poverty Bay, on the 11 th inst. the wife of S. C. Caulton Esq. of a son. MARRIAGES. Fenton—McNalty.— on the 12th October at St. John’s Church, Napier, by the Rev. J. Townsend, Richard Fenton Esq. of Auckland, late Lieutenant in H.M. 9th Regiment, to Katherine, only daughter of the late Mr. Martin McNally, of Napier. Brandon—Cowie.— At Napier on the 12th inst. at the residence of Robert. Stuart Esq. J.P. by the Rev. J. Tow nsend, S. G. Brandon, Esq. J.P. to Catherine Balfour, widow of the late George Cowie, M.D.

McDoxxell— At Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, on the Bth inst. George Anneslley McDonnell, SubInspector of the Armed Constabulary Force, aged 38 years.
