The Wellington people, it would appear, prefer the flesh pots of Government expenditure, to either political consistency or honor, for we find, “A requisition is being got up to Messrs. Pearce and Hunter, calling upon them to support Mr. Stafford and prevent the removal of the seat of Government, or, in the event of their refusing, to resign their seats.”
