NEW DEPARTURE IN PHOTOGRAPHY.
Daring a terrific thunderstorm widen raged tor many hours in the Wukatip district (savs the Queenstown Mail), Mr 0 ampin 11, photographer, made an attempt, to obtain some v;o.vs, t laving boon iimd-lo to focus Ho objects, h<* truly worv.d in the dark. He managed however, after several attempts, to succeed in oltahiing a capital vmw (taken from the verandah of Richard" s Hotel) of the public jetty, and of idle Ben Lomond win u rounding the beacon (about a mile distant) on her return from Kingston Above, and, as it wore in a mucky ground, is to bo clearly traced the most interesting phenomenon —the source of light, ap parent!v a small ball of lire, and from either side clear streaks running out in ribbon-like fashion. Above this current is a hazy spot. Altogether the scene has a most weird appearance. And wo should fancy is quite a curiosity.
