Deferring to the action of the directors of the Bank, the Dally News says there is no causo for alarm, The Standard, on the same subject, remarks that it is evident tho colony is going from bad to worse. Colonial stocks are. slightly weaker. Tho Financial Nows, referring to tho Bank of New Zealand’s affairs, spates that theßank is the centre main- * spring of a class dangerous to finance, and tho tool of Ministers like Vogel, whose wild extravagance and reckless expenditure have overwhelmed the colon}’ in debt. The Statist insists that it is desirable shareholders should know how much the Bank has lost. The Economist considers f hat the directors of the Bank were quite right in not declaring a dividend when the profits did no warrant it .
