A TERRIBLE DISASTER AT A LAUNCH.
—— <> A terrible disaster oeeured on August fi, at Milwaukee, Winc-msiii, in which nine persons lost their lives, and nine others were scriou-Iy injured. On tin-. day me; - tioneil a large steamer —the largest ever constructed cn the Michigan River —was being launched from tho shipbuilding yard of Messrs Wolf <& Davidson. Tho steamer, which was named the Wiliam Wolf, left the ways, and was launched in safety, bat the huge hull dashing into the river caused I lie water to rise in a wave to a groat height. This wave dashed wi hj great force against the sited of the North-Wes-tern fuel Company, on the roof of which were about a hundred spectators. The structure gave way, ami the nnss ot people were thrown together in the water. Tim shrieks of the drowning people were terrible. Every effort was made to save them, and nnny were got out either in sensible, badly injured, or dexci, The loss of life fumed out to be nine, un i a ■similar number were d mg-ro miy injured-
