A KAKARAMEA GRIEVANCE.

FROM THE WAXGAXCI HERALD. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I see the Chamber ox Commerce think the railway timo-table is’' unsuitable as regards Wanganui. Has it not struck people that it is unsatisfactory all through, for this reason, wo have a fresh timo-table every • day. The time is the same on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, tho same Tuesday and Friday, and on Thursday the same as Monday, with the omission of the morning train from Haw era to Wanganui returning in tho evening. So taking one day with another, wo have a change of timetable every day—a good deal for passengers to remember. Then again tho evening train not running on Thursday, and the mail train not stopping here on Fridoy, we in Kakaramea are placed in this position If we wish to go to Huwera and miss tho 11 15 train on Thursday, we must wait till 11.15 on Saturday, or walk to Patea or Manutahi (four miles either way) to catch the train. We are two days and two nights without a train. Then there is another thing. Between Wanganui and Longburn there is a train every day stopping at all stations, beyond (that, of* course, is the company’s line, aed between Hawera a-nd New Plymouth there is a train ping at all stations. But between ' Wanganui and Hawera there is only' the mail train on Tuesdays and Fridays, which does not stop at gaudl stations, consequently on thosfe we cannot travel by train. Now sir, seeing that there is only the one train on those days between, the places named, could not the train on Tuesday and Friday stop fo.‘ passengers only at all stations, if required, '

Wanganui and Hawera. Tho Major said he did not know why 11 1 e train did not otop when there wore passengers to get in. Probably now that he is at the head affairs, ho will see into this matter. I am. etc., Kaka ii.vai i:a.
