MURDER AT DUNEDIN.

it woman named Matilda Hancock, an abandoned character, was murdered at Dunedin on Saturday night, and a man named William Peaice, with whom she had been cohabiting, lias been arrested for the' deed. It appears that the two had been drinking and had had a quarrel, Pearce stabbing the woman in the side. An inquest on the body' of the murdered woman was held on Monday, but adjourned till Friday. Pearce, who is a fishmonger, is but n, few .months out of gaol, where he was undergoing a sentence of 12 months for;stabbing a man.
