At the cricket match this morning Ashby and Pocock resumed their innings, and the score increased quickly to 106 when Pocock was given ont Ibw. Harman went in and Ashby was caught by Dewes for 39. Malet went in with the score at 121, but he and the last man were both . caught by Dewes behind the wicket. Canterbury’s second innings closed for 291, leaving Auckland to get 151 to win,

The house of Mr Knuh l , fruiterer, at Newton, was broken in‘o, and the Cir«b box, containing £4l, and also a watch, chain and other articles, making a total value of £9l, stolen. The burglar entered through the back window and took the cash box from a room in which Knight was fast asleep.
