MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT.

The usual sales have been held during the past fortnight. At Waverlcy the yards were fairly well filled, and it number of useful cattle changed hands. At Hawera a splendid lot of cattle came forra’tes. ”l**do not anticipate any further advance in the price of stock during the summer months. Store cattle at present values leave a fair margin for fattening, and, with a possible rise during the winter for fat, they should be a good investment at the rates now ruling. The holidays interfered somewhat with the sale to-day, though I succeeded in placing all the cattle and the bulk of the sheep after the . SiVwciy* cA s. dow \vk a.vd tendency at the sale to-day. At Naivora . \ a cWrmg o\ w* wywswcvv of Mr Caver hilly at prices in favour of the ( purchasers. , Cattle. —AtWavevley 389 head were 1 sold : Store steers, £4 7s ; good, large well-forward cows made £3 7s ; ordinary cows, £2 to £2 12s 6d ; yearlings, 255. At Hawera 510 head were sold : Fat bullocks, £6 5s ; 3-year-old bullocks, £5 12s 6d ; 2-year-old, £8 10s to £4 ss; yearlings, 275. At the yards to-day 154 head were sold : Fat bullocks, £5 to £6 7s 6d ; steers, £3 ; heifers, £2 5s ; cows, £2 2s 6d ; yearlings, 255. Sheep.— AtWaverley 639 were penned : shorn ewes and lambs, 10s Id ; hoggets, 9s 2d to 9s 3d ; ewes in wool, lls. _At Hawera 500 head were oenned, but prices asked were considered above the value, and no business was done. At the j-ards to-day fat ewes made 10s 3d to 10s 6d ; ewes and wethers, 9fi 6d ; wethers in wool, 14s ; ewes and lambs, 10s 6d ; 820 head made up the sale. Horses. — No alteration in values. A few found purchasers at current rates.
