A portion of the frozen mutton, ex British Queen, was sold this morning at an average of 6£d per lb.
Tenders for the New South Wales 4 per cent, loan of three millions were opened to-day. The total amount offered was £7,590,000, Tenders at IOOf will receive 96 per cent; tenders above that will be allotted the full amount. Rumorrs to the effect that the number of British trooos in Egypt is to be increased bare'received official denial. The Royal Dublin Regiment of Fusiliers who are under orders for Egypt are only going as a relief for: the troops, whose period of foreign service is concluded. PARIS, Dec 20 ■ The reported occupation of Soutay by the French troops is denied. Latest despatches to band state that ..the French captured the outpost at Soutay only after a stubborn fight in which they lost fifteen officers and two hundred men, the enemy’s loss being very heavy. The assault of Stputay fortress is to take place on the seventeenth instant.
