TERRIBLE IMPRECATION AND ITS SEQUEL.
An inquest was held at Southwark upon the body of Henry Stocker, aged 45. The wife of the deceased stated that on Sunday night her husband returned home about 10. She was out at the time, and in consequence of this her son, n lad 11 years of age, refused to go inside at his father’s bidding. Her husband was a very passionate man, and of hasty temper, and on seeing the boy run away, he exclaimed, “ God strike me dead if I don’t kill him when I catch him.”, He ran after the boy, and met.witness while so doing. Ho was dreadfully excited, but she got him * back into the house and to bed. Soon after he jumped up and said he felt as though ho would choke, and then became insensible. A doctor was sent for, but death ensued. Mr M. Cook* surgeon, gave evidence to the effect that deceased had had a very violent fit of passion, which caused n rupture of one of the valves of the heart, and so produced death. The coroner said it was an awful thing for any man to use such an imprecation as the deceased had done, and it looked as if bis wish had been answered.
