MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON’S FORT- ‘ NIGHTLY STOCK REPORT’.

There is a decided improvement in the values of all descriptions of stock since my last report. At the Waverley sale s large number of cattle and sheep changed hands/nnd at Hawcra the bidding was spirited and brisk, the result being a capital sale.at better rates All the lots at both sales were either sold at the miction or immediately ' afterwards. At St. Hillstreet to day only a limited number came forward, the sale being almost entirely confined to fat stpek ; the sale was brisk throughout. The bidding for horses was was not quite so free, about one-half of the entries being disposed of at current price ß - Cattle—At Waverlsy 597 head wore sold*: 10s ; cows, £2 2s to £2 7s 6d ; yearling steers, 23s to 27a; heifers, 235. At Hawera 377 head were also sold ; Bullocks, well forward, £6 6s; 3 : ycar-ojd store bullocks, £4 11s ; 2 year olds, £2 10s to £2 17s 6d ; empty cows, £2 14s ; cows and calves, £3 ; yearling steers, 30s; mixed. 23s to 275. At St Hill street cows, £4 17a 6d to £6 7* Gd ; yearlings, S2b to 29s ;_rn(lch cows, £4 to £4r6s. Sheep—At Waverley-625 were yarded ; Ewes and lambs in wool, 13s 61; shorn ewes, 8s 9d; about one half entered were sold. At Hawera 200 were sold at 13s. At 81 Hill street 518 were sold ; Fat ■wethers in wool,- 16s 2d ; shorn, mixed sexes, lls 9d ; stores, 9s 8d to 18s ; shorn hoggets, 6s> 9d ; fat lambs, 6s 3d. Horses —30 head made up the sale, purchasers being found for about one-half at late values. Export—Cattle, 95 ; sheep, 832 ; pigs, 40 ; and 4 horses.
