The Jubilee is now being insulated with charcoal, ami as soon as this work is completed she will be taken round to the Patent Slip for the purpose of rewiring « thorough .overhaul. No time whatever will be lost in placing the machinery in situ, and the directors of the . company are confident lhat’in about a month's time freezing operations will be commenced. . A substantial wharf is in course of construction at Petone, and a line of tramway has been laid , down -so as: to: connect the pier .with the company’s abatoirs, thereby enabling the carcases which are to be frozen to be placed in _ the chambers with the least possible amount of handling. The first batch of meat which will be prepared for the Home market will be on the company’s account, but arrangements have been made for freezing foi 1 private parties, and il is believed that advantage of such, an opportunity will be taken by a largo number of graziers in the bht-dislricts.
