SUICIDE OF A PRESBYTERIAN MINISTER.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) : WELLINGTON, This day. , The Uev Mr Sheriff, a Presbyterian Minister from Waipukarau, Napier, committed suicide at eight o'clock this morning at the residence of Mr John McLean, Newton. At the hour mentioned the door of his belroom was burst open, when the deceased w«s found hanging from the bod post by n strap and quite dead. It is believed he was sniffling, from temporary insanity, and that the reason of his visit here was tb he placed in the Asylum. An inquestwill be held.

William -Sheriff, who committed suicide, was aged 42, and. a native of Aberdeen, He had been menially depressed for some time, and came here for the benefit of his health. He leaves a wife and 6 children at Waipukurau. He .formerly resided at Blenheim.
