Public Announcements. Z.UNBBERG AND CO S IS THE QHEAPEST AND jgEST Furniture & Carpet DEPOT Between Auckland and Wellington. Question ; Why is there such a noiiceable reduction in FURNITURE, CARPETS, MATTING- and HOUSEHOLD REQUISITES in Patea daring the past 3 years? Answer : Because the opening of L. & Co.’s Furniture Depot marked a new era in the town, and the “ SMALL PROFITS AND QUICK RETURNS" system has led others to imitate them. Question: Why remains j’et unfulfilled the predicted closing of L, and Co.’s FURNITURE DEPOT after 12 months’ existence ? Answer : Because an appreciating public know who introduced the “S. P. and Q R.” motto and patronise the one who did so. Question : Why is it unnecessary to mark down and sell off, or by professedly alarming sacrifices decoy customers into the Furniture Dop6t ? Answer : Because it is well known that all goods having been marked at our uniform LOW RATE OF PROFIT and no WHITE PINE used in the manufacture of any article of Furniture no such artifice is needed. Question: Why should. every resident of and visitor to the district inspect L. and Co.’s Furniture Depot before making their purchases ? Answer : Because in no place on the Coast can there be seen such a comprehensive and valuable stock of household Furniture, &c, &c, &c, at such low prices. THE A.TRT UNION OF OIL PAINTINGS, &c, &c, is rapidly filling up ; those desirous of taking tickets should do so at once. ASTONISHING DISCOVERY. THAT JOHN McLAEIN’S is the Cheapest House in Patea for a good pair of Boots. In order to nloet my engagements of the coining month, I will sell Boots 30 per cent,, cheaper than heretofore. No gammon ; invoices on view. I ask any sensible person what advantage they will gain in buying boots from a Storekeeper or Draper. Do they know anything about the quality of the Boots they sell? Decidedly no. Will they repair them if they come undone ? Why, they could not mend their own. Always buy of a man who, if the Boots he sells do not give satisfaction, will repair them tov nothing. , A warning to would-be Jacks of all Trades. The original Jonas, a grocer and tea-dealer,.aspired to be a Leather King. He went to Wellington to hunt for Boots, and afterwards got hunted himself, in fact, properly booted. After dabbling with .leather,--too, -he has burned his fingers. He is trying to gull honest people with a flying visit. But, Oh I Jonas they are not to be had. Hawera would not have it; Wanganui would not be had ; and why think the Patea people soft ? Good people, beware of birds of passage; keep the money in the place by encouraging local business men, and remember those with large families that what you buy of me I repair free of cost if they don’t give satisfaction.
