NURSING A MINISTER.
Mr Mitchelson, the new Public Works Minister, is to be provided with a nurse. Despite nil the discreetness and business tact, the carpenter’s apprenticeship and all the rest, the hon. gentleman is not to be trusted to run “ Works ” alone. According to the Wellington-correspondent of the Daily Times , and th.nt gentleman is pretty well informed, Mr Johnston will not retire from the cabinet on Mr Mitchelson taking office, but will retain a seat in the Executive Council as Minister without portfolio, “ and act ns a sort of assistant Minister for Public Works for the present to initiate the new man into his serious and important duties.” A very pleasant task for the Honourable Waller which it is very kind of him to undertake. No doubt the new P,W.M. will impart a little of his mechanical training to his Assistant and so the arrangement will be mutually advantageous. Johnston ini'iatcs Mitchelson into the mysteries of roads and railways and “ sich ” like, and Mitchelson shows Johnston how to grind bis axes and handle the useful hammer, or even do a little Cabinet making. What a happy family these Ministers are, and so obliging.
