MB. FIIEF-MAN B. JACKSON'S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT.

Wednesday, OctoUir 31

In addition to my usual stock sale* I have held two special ones during the fortnight. One on account of H Morccroft, Esq., and a large sale of cattle on account of John Hair. Esq. .Mr Morccrofts sale drew a large attendance, and being favoured with a beautiful day, it went off well. The best sheep did not quite realize the vendors expectation*. This was in a gi eat measure occasioned by the low price of wool, but for those of a medium class capital prices were obtained. The wet day materially affected the attendance at Mr Hairs sale, though actual buyers were numerous. The cattle were greatly

They elicited spirited bidding throughout the sale, and the prices obtained must be considered .‘atisfnetory to the vendor. At the yards to-day a small number of cattle and sheep made up the sale, the bulk being sold at quotations below. The bull sale on Saturday was poorly attended, and little business was done. I have to report a better demand for all descriptions ofstock. The scarcity of beef, and consequently an increasing inquiry for the latter, must create an upward tendency in values.
