DYNAMITE AT WORK.
Attempt to Blow Up Trains. 40 Passengor« Injured. The Railway Guarded: / , LONDON, Oct. 31. At 8 o’clock last night an attempt was made to destroy the underground railway near Praed-street station by means of dynamite. The f explosion : resulted Jn great damage being done to the roadway, and forty passengers who wera in the train, which was in the tunnel, were injured. Between Charing Cross and Westminster utations another explosion occurred, but fortunately no damage -.watt done to either the train or stations. At the time of the explosions the railways’ were crowded with visitors to the Fisheries Exhibition. This dastardy attempt;'toN destroy life and property is Fenians. v ' -- : Liter. It is now known that six carriages were shattered by the dynamite explosion -in the; underground railway,. and that-a number of passengers were badly burnt. : ' Novi. . The explosions which occurred Oh'the underground railway are believed to have been caused, by dynamite at the hands of Fenian emissaries. Jfho Metropolian stations arc now guarded by strong bodies of police, and the approaches .to > the tunnels are watched. The affair has caused considerable alarm in the metropolis.
