VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The District prizes have been allocated as follows for the Patea Rifle Volunteers:—First Glass—-Ist prize £1 ss. 2nd £1 Is. 3rd 15s. Second Class —lst prize £1 2,v6d.2nd £l. 3rd 17s. 4th 12s 6d. Total £6 13s. The ranges will be : First Class—4. 5 and 600 yards. Second Class—2 3 and 400 yards. Targets—lst class— Three. Diameter—bulls eye. 2ft. Centre, 4 ft. Outer remainder of target, 6ft square. Second Class— Two. Diameter—bulls eye Ift. Centre— Bft.- Outer remainder of target 6x4. Five rounds at each range. It is quite probable that the district prize firing, class firing, and judging distance exercise will commence on or about Monday the 12th November. Sergt Nixon will attend as permanent staff officer to superintend the above mentioned exercises. The committee appointed should- make known their classifications for the District Prize Firing as soon a» possible.
