NOLAN, TONES, & CO.’S MONTHLY STOCK REPORT. October 18. A large quantity’ of stock have been brought forward during the month, and the great majority of them were sold. At Manaia on the 4th instant. The cattle were not of a good class, consequently there was little inquiry for the sort. At the unreserved sale of Mr W. S. Young’s stock on the 10th instant, although the weather was extremely boisterous, there was a large attendance, of bidders, and prices were in excess of what have been ruling of late. At the Hawera y’ards yesterday a lot more cattle than were advertised came forward, and bidding was spirited, most of the stock being sold by auction, and with the exception of two pens, all were placed privately. The inquiry for hoggets was keen, and they were all disposed of at the hammer. We have sold during the month 280 head of beef at prices considerably in advance of that ruling last month.

Cattle— At Manaia 210 head came forward. We quote weaners at 20s ; yearlings, 255; cows and calves, £2 7s 6d ; 3-year-old heifers, £2 10s ; 18-month-old steers, £2 ; 3-year-old steers £4 10s ; fat cows, £4 10s to £5. At Mr Young's clearing sale 490 head were sold : Yearlings brought 27s to 30s 6d ; dry cows, £2 6s 6d to £2 lls 6J ; cows with calves, £2 12s ; 18-months to 2|-y’ear-old steers, £3 3s ; 3-year-old steers, £3 17s 6d ; 3 to 4-year-old bullocks, £4 12s to £6 Is. At Hawera yesterday 320 bead were y’arded ; Weaners 1 fetched 20s; yearlings, 255; cows and calves, £2 10s ; store cows, £2 4s ; 18-raonths-old steers, £2 ; 2to 2£-yoar-old steers, £3 4s 6d ; 3 to 4-year-old bullocks, £4 is. Sheep—At the Hawera sale yards yesterday 1350 hoggets were y’arded, and Were sold at 10s 2d per head.' , - Houses — A good few have changed hands at the different sales, but being mostly of an inferior description, prices are low. Anything of a good class are : bringing fair'value.
