A quantity of fresh Californian salmon packed in ice has arrived here in excellent condition.

Mr Seymour George and Mr Allan McDonald, who were going to Melbourne per Tarawera, missed their passage. The weight throwing match between Tim O’Connor the well-known Auckland footballer, and McNamara, of Sydney, eventuated. O’Connor threw the fifty-six pounds weight 22 feet four inches, the 28 pound weight 38 feet 2 inches, and the 421b weight 28 feet 4 inches, beating McNamara by a foot in the first, 2 feet in the second and rather more in the third.

Just before the departure of the Tarawera a steerage passenger named White fell down (be forohold 20 feet, breaking his left leg and dislocating bis arm. He was taken to the hospital.
