VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The Inspection Parade of the Patea Rifles took place last night. Major Stapp inspected the corps himself, after which he marched the men out in the Barrack square and put them through some very useful drill. A committee meeting was held afterwards to arrange for firing for the Government prizes. It was resolved “That the corps be divided into two classes and that the money be divided into 7 prizes, three for the first class and four for the second.” Lieut. Adams, Sergts Ham's and Hamerton, were appointed a committee to class the corps. Of course, those arrangements are ah subject to the approval of the commanding officer of the district, and the captain of the corps. The firing will be conducted strictly under “ The rules and regulations for the competition for Government prizes.” Any volunteer wishing to peruse the rules can borrow them from Captain Taplln, or Col-Sergt Rells.
