ACCIDENT IN THE CRICKET FIELD.
A Mr J. Connor, of Grafton, N.S.W., was the victim of - a particularly aggravated accident while playing cricket last month. Ho was fielding at point, when a batsman played a ball up in the air between point and short-field off ; and in attempting to make a catch, Connor collided with Cowie, who was also fielding the ball—the former’s face coming in contact with the latter’s elbow. Connor was immediately covered in blood, and on examination it was found that he had sustained a severe cut in the corner of the .left eye, which left the skull bare. Nor was this all : Connor fell undermost to the ground, and by some means got bis right foot placed across the left leg; when Cowie fell on the knee, breaking the large bone of Connor’s left leg between the knee and ankle, the heel of the boot at the same time inflicting a very ugly flesh wound, which penetrated to tho bone. Cowie received a severe shaking, but otherwise escaped unhurt.
