PATEA STEAM SAWMILL AND WOODWARE MANUFACTURING COMPANY.
Election of Directors. A meeting of the above was held in Mr LCyton’s office, on Monday evening, for the purpose of electing directors •Some 17 or 18 shareholders were present, Mr Tenncnt in the chair. The Chairman stated that the Company was now on a satisfactory basis, the whole capital being subscribed except £7. There had been considerable expense in floating, however — registration of company, solicitor’s fees, insurance £750, &c,; still, notwithstanding, in the bands of energetic gentlemen, and the meat freezing affair, which would help it along, he had no doubt of its success. The Secretary (Mr Cowern) said the memorandum of agreement was signed Chairman read the same. Secretary mentioned that cost of transfer had been paid by Mr Tenncnt. (Applause.) After some preliminary business the election of seven directors was then pro ceeded with, with the following result: Mr Milroy—proposed by Mr Howitt, seconded by Mr Hamcrton ; Mr Deane —proposed by Mr Hamerton, seconded by Mr Brown ; Mr Williams—proposed by Mr Neilson, seconded by Mr Howitt; Mr Tenncnt —proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr G. D. Hamcrton ; Mr D. Paul —proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Brown ; Mr Mahony—proposed by Mr Cowern, seconded by Mr Bnckley ; Mr Honcyfiehi—proposed by Mr Cowern, seconded by Mr Milroy. A resolution, “ That the books be closed, balanced, and audited np to August 31. in each year, and that the annual meeting bo held in the second Monday in each year,” proposed by Mr Hamerton and seconded by Mr Lundberg, was carried unanimously. Proposed by Mr Lundbcrg, seconded by Mr Milroy, “ That Mr E. C. Horner be suggested to the directors as the first auditor.” Carried. On Mr Cowern surmising that his term of office as secretary expired that evening, the Chairman highly eulogised him, and said he deserved some recognition for his services. Ultimately a resolution, proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Neilson, was carried unanimously—“ That the acting secretary and treasurer be paid the sum of £lO, and that he be asked to hold office until his successor be appointed.” Mr Milroy asked if they were at any expense for the room, they now occupied? Mr Hamcrton ; I have arranged with Mr Eyton for the free use of it. Mr Milroy : Are the rules of the Company to be printed ? Mr Hamerton jocularly remarked that they should, as he would not care to write a copy for Is 1 . No resolution, however, was carried to that effect. The meeting then adjourned with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
