The question of the meat supply to Europe is one of the most important of the present .day, and is exciting great attention.. Every year in England the food supply grows less in proportion to the population as is evidenced: by the fact that in 1870 the total value of meat imported into the United Kingdom was £7,700,000,; but in 1880 it had grown to upwards of £26.000,000. ' - The present values of fat s’oek upon the Coast.being so low, shareholders .in the Companywould reap an immediate benefit, as they would be able to ; provide themselves with a steady and market for their Slock ah paying; rates all the year round, glutted markets and nominal prices being rendered impossible to those Farmers and Stockowners who have an interest in and avail themselves of the services of the Company. Shareholders shall, always have the first claim upon the Company’s services. . Messrs Haslam’s agent has examined the s.s. Waverley, now ; trading to Patea, and reported that she ; can be fitted up. for a moderate sum with Refrigerating machinery, to carry 830 sheep, without materially, reducing her cargo-carrying, capacity. The objects of. this Company are of such great importance to all on this Coast, especially as it is essentially a grazing district ; that the promoters count upon the support of all interested in its successful operations. ~ . , ?
