THE HOSPITAL.
Letter from the Governmeat.
The Hospital Committee met at throe o’clock this afternoon. The business was to consider a letter received from the Under-Secretary re taking over the Hospital. The letter stated that the Commitce could take over the management from Oct 1, clear of all past debts and liabilities. “If ” the loiter went on to s«y * s there are any patients in the Hospital at that date they will of course take charge of them. An inventory most be made of all the contents of the building, signed by the steward or by some person on behalf of the Committee and sent to this office for record. The present steward should bo kept on for three months, or receive one month’s pay if dispensed with. The accounts of expenditure should be rendered monthly or quarterly as may be most convenient, and on their being audited and found satisfactory, a cheque for half the amount expended by the Committee will be sent to the Treasurer. The subsidy will depend upon the expenditure and not upon the amount of subscriptions or oilier contributions collected by the Committee and under no circumstances will any deficiencies be made np by the Government.” We are un-ible to give the result of the Committee’s deliberations to-day, owing to the lateness of the hour.
