A NOVELTY IN PIANOS.

4. Distracted fathers of families ought to bo glad to learn that pianos of the future are to need no tuning. A firm in Leipzig has succeeded in inventing a “ tuning-fork” piano, in which the notes are produced, not by wires, but by a series of tuning forks. When a key is struck a three-fold action takes place; a damper is raised from the tuning fork, the latter is struck with a small hammer and at the same time brought into contact with the sounding board. The tone is said to be strong and sweet, and in some respects more like the note of an organ ; but the greatest improvement, as before hinted, is that the new instrument will not need tuning.
