PATEA CRICKET CLUB.

A general meeting of members of the Patea Cricket Club was held last evening in the Albion Hotel. There were present: Messrs Tennenl, Taplin, Redgrave, Jacomb, Harden (2), Waitt, Gibbons, Bright, and Rose. MrTennent was voted to the chair. The secretary, Mr Taplin, road the balance sheet which should have been presented to a meeting to have been held some months back but at which none of the members had been present. He stated that the club at the present time were about 7 guineas in debt. THE HAWERA MATCH. A letter from the secretary of the Hawera Cricket Club was read. It stated that that club had arranged for two matches between Patea and Hawera, the first to be held at Hawera on October 27, and the second at Patea on the 19th January. Mr Bright moved that the letter be referred to the incoming committee, which was carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Mr Taplin proposed Mr Jacomb as captain for the ensuing year. Seconded by Mr Harden and carried. Mr Taplin was proposed as secretary and treasurer by Mr Gibbons, seconded by Mr Harden and elected. A discussion took place as to whether the secretary should be on the match committee but ultimately dropped for the time being. Messrs Redgrave, Tennent, Rose, and Read were proposed as members of com-

mittee, and a ballot which resulted in the election of Messrs Redgrave, Tepnent and Rose was taken.

OPENING MATCH.

- With reference to the opening match of the season Mr Gibbons moved “ That the opening match, “Married v. Single,” take place on Saturday, October 6th. Mr Rose, who was appointed to get up the single team, seconded the motion which was carried.

The secretary drew the attention of members to the fact that he was the sole creditor o£ the club, having paid off all the debts, amounting to £7 odd, out of his own pocket. Mr Harden moved “ That Mr Tapiin reimburse himself out of the first subscriptions which come in ” which was carried. The meeting then adjourned.
