LOVE AND LAWN TENNIS.

Papers by. the mail give details of a sad case of murder and suicide which occurred at Bedford the other day. It appears that a young man named Yere, who had passed from the Bedford Grammar School into the array, and was gazetted for foreign service, was engaged in a game of lawn-tennis with a Miss McKay, the daughter of a widow who had lately come to reside in the town. Owing, it is supposed, to the young lady not encouraging his alien lions, Mr Yere suddenly drew a revolver from his pocket and shot her dead, and then, turning the weapon towards himself, took his own life. Medical aid was instantly procured, but death had been instantaneous in both cases.
