The Company intend to do the export business for the public entirely as agents, and on agency terms ; but it will be prepared,' if such business is not offered, to undertake it as principals. The question of the meat supply to Europe is one of the most important of the present day, and is exciting great attentipn. Every year in England the food* supply grows less in proportion to the population as is evidenced by the faclthal in 1870 the total value of meat imported into the United Kingdom was £7,700,000, but in 1880 it had grown to upwards of £26,000,000. dlhe present values of fat s»ock upon thjs Coast being so low, shareholders in thf Company would reap an immediate benefit, ns they would be able to provide themselves with a steady and regular market for their Stock at paying rates all the year round, glutted markets and nominal prices being rendered impossible to those Farmers and Stockowners who have an interest ip and avail themselves of the services of the Company. Shareholders shall always have the first claim upon the Company’s services. It is proposed To purchase or to lease n suitable site at Pa tea for the purpose of erecting thereon the necessary store (calculated to hold not less than 2000 carcases), machinery, yards, &c., for the requirements of the Company; and to convey the. frozen, meat or produce to ope of the principal ports in the Colony for immedittle shipmont by Horae vessel or if no vessel js ip such port, to store it, pending shiprtient; and in order to provide for such storage, the best possible nrrangernents will be entered into as soon as is desirable at the port chosen for Home shipment. Messrs Haslam’s agent has examined the s.s.Waverley, now trading to Patea, and reported that she can be fitted up for a moderate sum with Refrigerating machinery, to cany 890 sheep, without materially reducing her cargo-carrying capacity. The,objects of this Company are of great importance to all on this Coast, especially as it is essentially a grazing district; that the , promoters count upon the support of all interested in its successful operations. As- soon as in the opinion of The Directors, sufficient capital is subscribed, the Company will be registered, shares allotted to subscribers, and operations commenced.' r '' Applications for shares to be made to the Provisional Directors or to the Interim Secretary, Mr T.
