Thomas Eyton This Company is formed for the purpose of preparing meat, dairy and agricultural produce, for sale or export. -• The Company • intend to do the export business for the public entirely as agents, and on agency terms ; but it will be prepared, if such business is not offered, to undertake it as principals, . The question of the meat; supply to Europe is due of the most important of the present day, and is exciting great attention. Every year in England the fdod ; supply grows less iii proportion to the population as is evidenced by the fact that in 1870 the total value of meat imported into the United Kingdom was £7,700,000, but in ,1880 it bad grown to upwards of £26,000,000. Shareholders shall always have the first claim upon the Company’s services. It is proposed to purchase qr to lease a suitable site at Patea for the purpose of erecting thereon the necessary store (calculated to hold not less than 2000 carcases), machinery, yards, &c,; for the requirements of the Company; and to convey the frbzen meat or produce to one of the-principal ports in the Colony for immediate shipment by Home vessel or if no vessel is in such port, to store it, pending shipment;- and in order to provide for such storage, the best possible arrangements will be entered into as soon as is desirable at the port chosen for Home shipment. Messrs Haslam’s agent has examined the s.s. Waverley, now trading to Patea, and reported that she can bo fitted op for a moderate sum with Refrigerating machinery, to cany 890 sheep, without materially reducing her cargo-carrying capacity. The objects of this Company are of such great importance to all on this Coast, especially as it is essentially a grazing district; that the promoters count upon the support of all -interested in its successful operations. As soon ns in the opinion of the Directors, sufficient capital is subscribed, the Company will be registered, shares allotted to subscribers, and operations commenced. Application for shares to be made to the Provisional Directors or to the Interim Secretary, Mr T. Eyton, at the office of the Company/Egmont-street, Patea, where forms can be had, on or before the Ist day of October, 1883. The application fee can be paid to either of the Branches of the Bank of H.Z. at Hawera, Manaia, Normanby, Waverley, or Patea, or to the Interim Secretary. The Memorandum of Association can be seen at the office of the Solicitor to the Company. . If more shares are applied tor than can be allotted, the allotment will be made pro rata. . . .
