♦*- (per press association) WANGANUI, This day. The preliminary examination in connection with the alleged charges of fraudulent bankruptcy against William Lingard coneluded this morning, Defendant now stands committed for trial at the Supreme Court on five distinct charges. Three other charges were withdrawn. Defendant was admitted to bail.

Between June 30, 1882, and June 30, 1883, the different woollen factories in the colony purchased 5705 bales of wool, valued at £74,805. The value of articles manufactured from the wool is estimated to exceed £300,000.
