WEST COAST MEAT & PRODUCE EXPORT COMPANY.

The provisional directors held a meeting on Saturday. Present—Messrs Shield (chair), Drake, Fleming, Hawken, Balmforth, Christie, Jardine, f Palmer, Hamilton, Parsons, Koss, Tennent, Honcyfield, &c. Mr Hamilton explained what had been done at Hawcra, He said that they had been very well received by about 40 of the leading settlers, who, after discussing the matter from every point of view, resolved that they would do what they could toassist the Company. - The deputation had appointed Mr Nolan to act temporarily as broker. He thought they should confirm the apoiutment, and also appoint Mr Barker to work the southern district. After discussion, Mr Nolan was appointed broker for the district north of the Manawapon, and Mr Barker for the district south of that river. A long discussion took place about the site of the works, and ultimately Messrs Drake, Honeyfield, Ross, Gower, Hawken, Parsons, Palmer and Jardine, were appointed a Committee to inspect sites and report at next meeting. The Committee were also directed to obtain all possible information re freezing machinery, &c. On Mr Gower’s motion the Secretary was directed to write to the Government to enquire if any ground was available near the station as a site for the freezing works. ’ : Meeting then adjourned.
