Public Announcements. balance to be paid ont of calls,* and to bear interest at the rate of 8 per centum per annum ; the payment to extend over a maximum period of five years, or to bo reduced by instalments of not less than LIOOO each, at any earlier date, at tho option of (he Companj*, All book debts will be taken over as they now stand in the books, and they will ho guaranteed at 20s in the pound by tho uenders. Live stock, tallow, horses, carts, and several smaller properties not already valued (vide Schedule B) will be taken at a valuation on delivery ; but all other articles and property of what kind soever will be deemed to bo included in the valuation estimate of £18,789 ss. The Company will be registered as soon as £25,000 has been subscribed for, in addition to the paid up shares to be retained by the Vendors, and the shareholders will then be called together to elect a permanent Board and adopt Articles of Association. On the registration of the Company, Messrs Barber will at their own cost continue and complete the erection of a largo new slaughter-house at Ngahauranga, and will remove there, from its present position in Willis-strect, the whole of their meat-preserving machineiy and plant. It is intended to take power in tho Memorandum of Association to enter upon (ho business of freezing meat for export, or to amalgamate with any other Company, or to purchase any business established for (hat purpose, and to manufacture artificial manures or other products which may be considered legitimate adjuncts to the business ; but for the present, at least, it is deemed prudent to rest satisfied with the known profits of (be businesses as they stand, without embarking in more speculative ventures, and it is evident (hat the combination of the two establishments under one management must result in increased profits and largely diminished expenses. Tho combined businesses show a net profit of over 15 pei cent, and it is confidently expected that when conducted under one head, this may be considerably exceeded. The success which has attended tho Gear Mean Company since its establishment as a public Company shows conclusively thot such businesses are moro systematicallv and advantageously worked and extended in this way than by private enterprise ; and it is for this reason that Messrs Barber, and Woods, Crosbio and Company are willing to sell their respective businesses to a Company, while stilt retaining a very large interest themselves ; and they have agreed to place their services at the disposal of the Company for such time as the Directors may require, and not to engage in any business in competition with this Company. The resources of the Wellington district, in the way of sheep and cattle, are so largo and increasing, and the demand for preserved meats in England and elsewhere so much in excess of (he supply, that a business of this kind is capable of almost infinite extension, and presents to capitalists the opportunity of a safe and profitable investment, whilst to stockowners it affords the means of seeming a fair value for their produce, The Provisional Direct irs have given their careful consideration to the prospects of the proposed Company , and have had submitted to them by their oivn Valuator the detailed valuations of the various properties to be taken over. They feel they can with confidence recommend this undertalcing to the Public as one tohich is entered upon a fair hasis t and which promises to yield a handsome return bn the capital invested, as well a s 'by the extension of the business adding to the material prosperity of the city and the stockowners of the surrounding districts.
