MR FREEMAN R. JACK>ON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT.
Business during the past fortnight has been almost at a standstill. Ihc sale at Kakaramea was poorly attended, hardly any stock coming forward. At Mr Gordon’s sale a large number of sctilers attended, and bidding was brisk, every lot. being cleared at satisfactory prices, considering the times. At the yards' to-day a few pens of fat cows and store cattle made up the sale. I placed during the week a line of IS-') head of store cattle°at low money. So far there is no improvement in demand or values to report. Cattle —At St Hill-street fat. cows made from L 5 5s to Lo IPs; mixed 2-ycar-old stores, L2 ; calves, 255, Sheep—At Kakaramea, ewes, 8s ; no sale at Si Hill-street. ‘ Figs—There was a good demand for wellfatted pigs. Bacon pigs, L2 ss, L2 15s, up to L 3 557 good butchers’ pigs, 20s to 80s ; stores, 7s to 10s ; suckers, 2s 9d. Houses— No alteration in values. I sold a pen at late prices. EXPORTS— Cat tic,-40 ; sheep, 500.
