CALEDONIA GUM FIELDS.

A Big Speculation. (per press association.) AUCKLAND, This day. Mr Oppenhcimer, of Auckland, lias arranged for working the gum fields of New Caledonia. He has a concession to dig and export gum for ten years, and has made a contract with the Messageries Maritimcs Company to convey gum fiom New Caledonia to London for 60 francs per ton, Mr Oppcnheimer is to have 350 convicts, employed in digging, and 70 natives. He intends to send from 100 to 150 experienced gum diggers from Auckland.
