WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the ’ebove Board was held on Saturday 4th inst. Present, Messrs Wilson, Aiken, Johnston, Symes, and lon (chairman). The Treasurer reported_the balances to be, general account, £3Ol 2s 3d ; block YIII, £95 14a 7d ; block IX, Dr, £4 13s 6d ; block 111, Dr, £6 9s ; block IV, Omahini, £4 17s lOd. The Foreman of Works reported that he had prepared specifications for repairing Lower Kolii Bridge, and Waitotara Hoad. He had also arranged with. Hughes re lengthening Motuwhero'bridge. The slip on Taylor’s hill had been removed.

Resolved,-That the Board give £4O towards taking the Okotuku Road, provided the settlers:: interested ' guarantee the balance required to pay for land taken and fencing 1 road. d q d Mr R. Garrett, Surveyor, waited on the Board with report and plans of Henson’s Road. Messrs Williamson, J. Milnej Collins, and J. Howie, waited on the Board; re sundry roads. Mr A. Aiken waited on the Board re cutting required near Bradley’s gate. ; Resolved, That the matter of the alteration on Block VIII Road, stand over till the spring. Resolved—“ That tenders be called for Aiken and Bradley’s road, viz, cutting a, bank near Bradley’s second gate, and that Messrs Johnston and Wilson, be empowered to accept the tender.” Resolved—“ That the Foreman of Works be authorised to let the necessary repairs by Johnston’s gate on Cemetery road;” The following accounts wore passed for payment : Hughes and Davis £IOO, H Dud|ey £3, J Muir £1 3s 6d, Town Hall Coy. £8 13s, E G Ross £7, G C Ross £4 18s, J Hughes £25, J Pelling £5 12s, F P Fookes £4 13s 6d. i Resolved, that the Foreman of Works call for tenders for widening Wilson’s bill. He was also instructed to get approach to Motuwhero Bridge done as soon as bridge is finished. . The meeting then adjourned. i
