J LONDON, July 26 Mr G-laclslone -has fixed 3k£oru3ay next. for the discussion of Sir Stafford Northcote’s motion urging that the-claim of Count De Lesseps to.monopoly for construction of canals in Egypt should be repudiated in any future parleying with the Canal Company. In 'expressing his willingness to take the motion on Monday, Mr Gladstone at the same

time deprecated any discussion at present, as the Government do not intend immediately to re-open negotiations with Count De Lesseps. The death is announced of Denis O’Connor, M.P. for Sligo County, Ireland, aged 43 years. July 27. It is reported that a case of cholera has occurred at the Docks, The rumour has not, however, received any trustworthy confirmation. Major T. R. Disney, 11. A., and Gap-, tain Alfred Thomas, 8.N., have been appointed military and naval commanders respectively for the colony of Victoria, under the scheme for the reorganisation of the Colonial Forces. The death is announced of General Sir Win. Fenwick Williams, G. C.8., formerly Governor of Gibraltar. CAIRO, July 26.
